March TU Chapter Gathering - Guest Speaker Tim Flagler - “What Trout Like to Eat & the Flies to Feed Them”

  • VFW 55 Hickory Lane Levittown, NY, 11756 United States (map)

Come join us at our Monthly TU Gathering. Our guest speaker, via zoom, will be Tim Flagler…..his program will be “What Trout Like to Eat & the Flies to Feed Them”.

Tim is a well-known fly tying instructor. He has his own YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@tightlinevideo/videos.. In addition, Tim has a regular column “Beginner’s Masterclass with Tim Flagler” in Fly Tyer magazine. He is a fixture at the Fly Fishing Shows - giving presentations, teaching classes and often as a Featured Tier. He does monthly “Tie-Off’s” with Tom Rosenbauer (Orvis) and Cheech Pierce (Fly Fish Food) as well. He enjoys guiding year round for South Branch Outfitters (formerly Shannon’s Fly & Tackle) in Califon, NJ and hosts annual trips to Patagonia in the spring and to the Kootenai River in MT  & Northern British Columbia in the summer. He also hosts several trips within the year to Spruce Creek, PA and to the Erie area for steelhead in early December.

Also we will be having a Bamboo Fly Rod Raffle. Our chapter has received a donation of 6 fly rods, five of which are vintage Bamboo. We will periodically sell a limited number of raffle tickets for each rod. The first rod raffle is for a Phillipson Pacemaker, weight 6-7, Length 8ft, and 3 pieces. It is appraised at $150 to $175. We will only sell 25 tickets for this bamboo rod, and tickets will be $10 each. This rod will be on display beginning with our March meeting.

At this gathering you’ll meet our members, learn about some of our conservation efforts, learn about places to fish, and see what events and fishing trips we have planned. You’ll have a chance to win some raffle prizes, and we welcome hearing about your own fishing stories and adventures.

If you want to get more involved in what our Chapter does, speak to one of our Board Members, as we are always looking for help at casting clinics, cleanups, and other events.

Bring your Fly-Tying Vise and materials and feel free to tie a few flies during the gathering.

We will have hot coffee, cakes, and cookies.

Most importantly you’ll make some new friends!
